Present Characters

Life or Something Like It
An entertainment based game, focusing on the new wizarding tellys and Quidditch players.

Character: Susan Goldstein
Played: July 25, 2008-present
Journal: goldpiano

The plot of this game didn't really appeal to me, but the time set did. Meg and I were looking for a game we could play Susan and Anthony that was post-warts and not so darn serious! The game is set in 2002, so Nava and William Goldstein are about a year and a half old. The babies are absolutely adorable and Susan is such a mum. It's hard coming up with plot for her since she isn't involved in the entertainment industry, and most of the players already know each other from another game. I've only been able to form a passing relationship with characters.

Character: Orla Quirke
Played: August 21, 2008-present
Journal: a_quirke

Orla is working as the Director's Assistant on the set of the show "Boarders". Boarders is about a group of Hogwarts students doing what Hogwarts students do. I haven't played her, since there really isn't anyone I can find who meshes well with Orla, whether in this game or in other games.

Retired Journals:

Hogwarts Blogs

A trio-era game set in 1997 that didn't have a strong war theme, and was pretty light hearted. There was a mysterious villian, who turned out to be a confused Gilderoy Lockhart, who thought he was saving the wizarding world. He thought everyone was unhappy, and by cheering them up, he'd save them all! While laundry was being done, he put a lovely red scarf in with the white shirts. The boys' shirts turned pink, and several students landed in detention by switching ties from other houses to better coordinate their outfits (Blaise and Theo did in gay lisps in order to freak out homophobic Goyle). There was a gender changing lollie fiasco, a mini football league, a school play, a school rock band, and of course, Quidditch. Oh, and I can't forget about drunk!Trelawny

Character: Susan Bones
Played: Mid June 2006-July 21, 2007
Journal: susan_may_bones

I picked up Susan, as I wasn't nearly finished playing with her after a certain disastrous game that shall be named later. She was nice and sweet, though not super sugary sweet. She had grown up in a loud, Spanish family, and her character reacted to that. She was social, though not in a Tracey Davis way, and she had fun where she could. Shortly after I joined (meaning about two days) on the 16th of June, Drea sent me an e-mail asking if I had thought about possible relationships for Susan yet. She had a Slytherin (Theodore Nott), who wanted a romantic background. So, I helped her create one. In this game, Susan and Theo had dated in their fifth year when she saw him smoking outside on the Quidditch Pitch. She then chatted up a storm, and he said nothing. She smoked in this game, by the way. I'm really not sure why. Anyway, she kept running into him, and forcing him to respond, by asking questions such as "I like Astronomy, and do you know why?" and looking at him pointedly until he asked her why. They formed a bond, and he was her first boyfriend. They had sex, then after the Department of Mysteries battle, she was forbidden to see Theo by her father. Well, now in their seventh year, and with Daddy drinking and away from the picture, they began seeing each other again. I had never really done a role play romance, and I was still craving the interaction. In one journal commenting spree, they rediscovered each other, and she invited him to floo over and spend the night, which he did.

This Susan was fun to play, even though she went through many changes. When I started playing her, her dad had an alcohol problem, and her mum was worried about her safety. Susan was reckless and took too many chances. Her relationship with Theo also changed. They got more serious, then when his father was being held for being a DE, Theo ignored Susan for a month. She didn't take this well. They spent the day after Christmas together for their sixth month anniversary, and he was going to propose, but didn't think this was the best time. She had a late coming-of-age ball thrown by her father, and Theo came to her house under the name "Alexander Wilkinson" to fool her father, who still didn't know she was "in-love" with the Slytherin. Zacharias said "Theo" in front of her father, then Theo punched Zacharias. Susan was NOT happy. She left her party sobbing. Susan was disowned when she refused to break up with Theo, and she didn't tell Theo this, as he would have been too stressed. This was a terrible rp relationship. I couldn't have done this more perfectly than if I had tried (and believe me...I didn't try to distance them). Since it happened so slowly over the course of eight months, even I had no idea that her spirit was broken until it was too late. She craved physical affection, but she didn't really get it from anyone. When important things happened to her, Theo was never around, but she was expected to be his shining light. Instead of the random, fun shags, he left her alone until he needed a shag. He had to reminded to go to her Quidditch match, and he hadn't payed attention to when she talked about her practices...because she didn't talk about them. Every day she hoped and waited for his proposal. When she did get it, it was after she tried to break up with him...yet she still accepted.

Susan was able to get out of the relationship, thank god. The mod, Hayley, created a character to literally sweep Susan off her feet. He was tall, handsome, kind, funny, and treated Susan like she was a queen. Stephen Cornfoot was the cousin of Zacharias, and due to connections, he had met Susan when they were toddlers. Her father intended to have her marry into the Cornfoot family, and he pushed the children together, claiming he was doing so for the friends to be together. Susan and Stephen had grown up together, and we extremely close. They laughed and had fun. So, who better to put him as Theo's rival? After the summer of her 4th year, Susan's father revealed his plans, and Susan, thinking Stephen knew all about this, cut her ties with Stephen and didn't speak to him for years. Well, in DADA, they were assigned partners, and Susan and Stephen ended up partners. After a few heart to hearts, they were back to being close friends. For the first time in months, Susan was free to be herself, as a character. I loved Stephen for her. By being himself, he was able to show Susan the way she ought, and should, be treated. He was the Mr. Darcy to her Elizabeth Bennet...literally.

Susan was one of the spoiled characters in the game. Mostly, by chance. When the football tournament came around, Susan joined the three person team (and one reserve) with Blaise, Daphne, and Theo. The team was called "Ebil," and the Slytherins (with Tracey included) called themselves the apocalypse. Their nicknames were printed on the back of the jerseys Theo had ordered. To include Susan, she was given the name "Mercy"...Theo was "Famine". The jersey's were black with yellow stripes, and they were the only team who had actual uniforms. By a toss of a coin (by one of the players), Ebil ended up winning the tournament. Susan also joined the Quidditch team as the Keeper to join her friends Cad, Hannah, Justin, Ernie, and Zacharias (she wasn't friends with Summerby...no one was) on the winning Quidditch team. She and Hannah made the final play that won the Cup. Susan had saved a goal, threw the Quaffle as hard as she could to Hannah, who then scored, just as the snitch was captured...by Gryffindor. The one goal won them the match. On top of that, Susan was also taking a full load of hard courses. Six to be exact. She ended up having a break down after not having slept for two and a half days, and she withdrew from a class. Even more than that, Susan was chosen to be the lead in Pride and Prejudice, though she had only planned for a small role. She was opposite of Stephen, who happened to play Mr. Darcy.

Opinion
Scarily enough, that was just a BIT that happened to her in that game. Out of everything that happened, what I'm most unhappy about is the timeframe. Hayley and I wanted SS together NOW, as they had "OMG, TENSION AND ATTRACTION" for months before they got together. As a result, it took them about two days to get together. Susan told Theo she didn't want him anymore, then hopped right into the arms of Stephen. I really, really wish I could have done that more slowly. The biggest thing that this game did for me was help me to realize the difference between a well written, and badly written log. I could recognize when I was writing badly now, and I appreciate that. However....

THIS GAME HAD DRAMA. I know that all games have drama, but this drama was centered around people who WEREN'T the core rpers. AKA: people who had just joined. One girl, Rachel, (not the Rachel I adore and who is reading this, obv.) was TERRIBLE. She joined the game, and after she was done collecting, she was playing Ron, Padma, and Summerby, and Jezebel Dorny (her idea for the name). Apparently her applications were good, but her characters were AWFUL. She just did NOT get the concept of rping Her Ron was OBSESSED with sex. It went beyond what any sane male would do. She also played opposite of Thalia, who played Hermione. Thalia is like...a GODDESS at rping compared to Rachel. It was just BAD. We had a few players come and go, and all of them were bad. Only, there was a consistently bad player...Drea. The player of Theo. The reason why Theo was so bad, was because DREA was bad. She started the game with Justin and Theo, and later picked up Seamus. All my rp drama was with her. I tried talking with her over and over and over again about what Theo was doing to Susan and she didn't do anything to change that. I told her what Susan needed, and she ignored that. She left the game, and didn't even tell me...despite the fact that we had been playing together for almost a year, and our characters were engaged. She sucked.

Character: Megan Jones
Played: July 28, 2006-July 21, 2007
Journal: quietbadger

Megan Jones. She was INSANE. Her older, adopted sister was Gwenog Jones and they had a hate relationship. When Megan was a baby, Gwenog had no idea what to do with the crying baby, and being way too annoyed to deal with her sister, Gwenog cast many botched silencing charms on Megan. Thus, Megan wasn't able to speak until close to the end of the game. She signed with her family, and didn't make contact with anyone at school...until her seventh year. In game, she made horrible comments to boys, snogged them, then they dumped her for someone else. She never found anyone to love her, except when Nita came by, playing Harry Potter. Harry and Megan had a twisted relationship, and it was a ton of fun. Megan had a fierce love for creatures, and didn't care anything about DE's. If she would have been caught, she'd grin the entire time.

Opinion
Strangely enough, she was planned out to be just a semi-Slytherin like girl, who happened to be sorted into Hufflepuff. The reaction to her first journal entry made her into who she was later on. I don't even know what I was thinking with most of the things. I kept pushing mod and rping boundries with her, not really caring about the liklehood about any of her stuff actually being able to take place. She was fun, though I know I messed her up way too much. She just kind of appeared one day (while I was staying with Nita), and she changed and was played in whatever way she wanted at that time. She really did love Harry, though.

Character: Angelina Johnson
Played: November 15, 2006-July 21, 2007
Journal:ange_j

Oh, Angelina, how I love you. She's loud, abusive, and way too much fun to play. I always have a hard time explaining her personality, as it's just all over the place. She lived with Roger, but she didn't have ANY attraction toward him, though she did walk around their flat topless. She knows that she's hot, and she has no problems sitting in a towel, or just a pair of knickers. Roger never looked, and if he had, she would have hit him. She was rough around the edges, but she had a big heart.

Opinion
I never could get a grasp for her. She's more of a log type of girl, than a journal girl. I always struggled to come up with journal entries, as she really didn't care to update about the happenings in her life. I LOVED rping her, though. She was so loud and rough, I just loved it. She also managed to get the future Minister of Magic to fall in love with her. How sweet is that??

Hogwarts Blogs Fast Forward
A game set two years after Hogwarts_blogs.

Character: Susan Bones
Played: June 2, 2007--August 2007
Journal: queenofsusania

I wasn't a part of this game for very long. By this time, I was getting pretty tired of the HB crowd, and I wanted a break. It was two years later, and Susan/Stephen celebrated their two year anniversary with a trip to Spain, which was brilliant.

Character: Megan Jones
Played: June 2, 2007--August 2007
Journal: cuter_hagrid

In the two years, Megan became an Endangered Magical Creatures Specialist. She traveled all over the world, capturing and moving different endangered species. She had a tooon of fun making fun of Parvati and Dean (whom she lived with).

Order of the Phoenix Newts

The game is set in 1995, in the Newt student perspectives. The game had potential, but I needed a break BADLY from the HB crowd. I played Angelina, but she got snagged up pretty quickly by the mod after I left.

Imputation

A game set in the Trio's fifth year, without the actual Trio being able to be played. What happens to the rest of Hogwarts during Umbride's reign of power?

Character: Susan Bones
Played: November 6th, 2006--February 15th, 2007
Journal:susan_rae

This was the first game that I had the opportunity to play my new and improved Susan. I changed a few characteristics about her, but not too many. I made her Spanish family more involved in her life, and she was much more polite and lady-like than HB Susan. This was also the first time that I was able to play Susan/Anthony. This is where it all began, really. Meg and I started plotting their futures hardcore during this game, and we haven't stopped.

Hogwarts High

Character:
Played: May 15, 2007--July 2, 2007
Journal: soleadaCharacter: Mandy Brocklehurst
Played: June 24, 2007--July 2, 2007
Journal: brockle__bitch

Megan was already taken, so I decided to shift Megan's personality over to Mandy Brocklehurst. She wasn't nearly as dramatic as my old Megan, though. Mandy's mother had gotten pregnant with her by a banker who lived in Iowa. Mandy has no idea who her father is, though, and ever since she was born, she has been dragged from city to city while her mother searched for the "next big thing". She spent a year or so with her grandmother, and that was the first time she was able to make a friend. I forget his name, but he was her friend since that time, and she hasn't met anyone since. She doesn't see the need in making friends, as she's going to end up moving, anyway. However, she does stay at Cypress with her mother, and her mother's sexually abusive boyfriend, who gets Mandy's mother pregnant again. Not to worry, Mandy has dealt with her mother's creepy boyfriends before, and she's not even bothered by this one. One swift comment, and she's saved from his advances.

Character: Lavender Brown
Played: May 16, 2007--July 2, 2007
Journal: Lav_is_me

Lavender is a very fun character to play, especially in a high school setting, and she can be the typical dumb blonde. She giggled at everything, and she had a thing for Kevin Entwhistle. Now THAT was fun. Kevin was a drug addict, who spent his time skipping school. Lavender was the giggly blonde who loved to use sex to get her way. Somehow, they worked well together. Lavvy and her Kevvy.

Epilogue Mod

Meg realized that Nava and William Goldstein, whom we had been playing for MONTHS before the last book came out were in the same year as Albus Potter...so why not play the twins as Sixth years?

Character: Grace Underwood
Played: August 3, 2007--September 1, 2007
Journal: under_the_wood

I love Grace. She's such a sweetheart, and an innocent. Grace was created for the sole purpose of loving William Goldstein. Meg and I had discussed who would be the perfect mate for someone who was an actor, and had a twin sister he would always adore above everyone else. Grace was our result. Grace grew up in a very small country town with her elderly Muggle parents. They had tried for decades to have a baby, but it just didn't happen for them. Grace's parents were very much in love, and very sweet people. They had miscarriages and stillborns whenever they tried, until they finally stopped trying. They lived in a tiny cottage, as they had wanted to wait until they had two children before they moved. When Grace was finally born, her parents were in their late fifeties, and she was their miracle baby. She was a gift from God, so they named her Grace. Grace grew up in a village of only 200 residents. On her road, there were just four houses. The village had once been the home of several young couples, but now, there were just elderly farmers. The one boy who lived near Grace became her best, and only, friend. Phillip was a problem child, but Grace's parents didn't complain, as he was a sweet boy. Grace told Phillip her secret about being a witch, and he took it all in good stride. He then gave Grace her first kiss and told her never to forget him. After that, they considered themselves a couple, and Grace loved him with everything that she had. I've never played such an understanding character. Grace told Phillip that she knew that he had needs that she wouldn't be able to fulfill since she was at school. She gave him permission to snog other girls. There were only three rules to that. He could only snog a girl once. If he DID snog a girl more than once, then Grace ought to know, and they wouldn't be a couple anymore. The last rule was that he couldn't do more with a girl than what he had already done with Grace. During her fifth year, when they were both home for Christmas, they had their first time together. It was nice, just as snogging had been nice. Grace then gave him permission to shag whoever he wanted to.

Opinion
I love playing Grace, and I wish that I could play her more. I really, really love her. She's always been on the squishy side, and she's horribly self-conscious about her weight. The other girls in her year are all skinny, and she very much notices. All she can see about herself is her waist size, and she does what she can to cover it up, hiding her fantastic legs and great chest in the process. I really wish I had somewhere else to play her, as she is one of my favorite characters to play. It's still a mystery to me how she attracts William to her.

Character: Nava Goldstein
Played: August 3, 2007--September 1, 2007
Journal: charmingnava

I love my Nava. She's bossy, controlling, intelligent, ambitious, pretty, tiny, and the better half of William. Nava is a shocking 4'11, 92 pound beauty. She has her mother's red hair, her father's curls, and her grandmothers' size. Nava was born half an hour after William came into the world, and ever since then, she hasn't seen any reason to find her own friends. William was always much more social and outgoing than she was, and she didn't have a problem being friends with his friends.

When they were younger, his friends weren't exactly thrilled about having a girl following them all over the place, and unlike most young boys, William never told Nava to just go home and leave him alone. On the contrary, he told his friends that they could go. You couldn't have William without Nava. They were a pair, and they always had been. They often slept in the same room (even at the age of sixteen), ate together, took lessons together, everything. They may have acted like a pair, but those close to them knew that they were never to be reguarded as a pair. They were William Goldstein and Nava Goldstein, not Willim and Nava Goldstein. They had different interests and different goals. While William took part in plays, Nava was burying herself in books. They worked hard to be different. Thankfully, their mum was sane and never dressed them alike. To this day, Nava is grateful for that. There have never been any family photos of them looking just the same.

When the game took place, Nava's only friends were William's friends. She wasn't close to them, but they had their own little group. Nava, William, Isobel Corner, Dan Cornfoot, and Ethan Twycross. Nava loved Dan. She bossed him around, and she abused him, but she did love him. He was probably the closest to her own friend has she had ever gotten. It also helped that he adored her, and often let himself be abused by her. Nava had a thing for Parker, and unfortunately, he saw her as a friend, and he had a huge thing for Rose Weasley...who was a lame and boring version of Nava. Nava had goals of becoming the Head Girl, and NO ONE was going to stand in her way. Nava was scared that Rose would get it anyway, if only because Rose was a Weasley and Nava was a Goldstein. Who would honestly make a rabbi's daughter the Head Girl over the daughter of two war heroes and the brightest witch in over fifty years? No one in their right mind would want to be with Nava if she never received her Head Girl badge. No one would be surprised if Rose went mysteriously missing, either.

Dearly Beloved
Oh my god, it's 1997 and as well as dealing with the Carrows, the students have to get married! This game was a ton of fun, and the only reason why I left it was because I don't really know what to do with it anymore. No one has ever really posted, and it just became a chore.

Character: Millicent Bulstrode
Played: December 21, 2007--February 23, 2008
Journal: mbulstrode

She was the entire reason I joined the game. I saw on the arranged marriage list that she was going to have to marry George Weasley, and the crack factor was just too much. She was fun to play. She was the first of my characters to get my really dry sense of humor, but without friends and really no plot, I didn't have that much to do with her.

Character: Susan Bones
Played: December 22, 2008--February 23, 2008
Journal: sbones

Susan was kind of "blah" in the game. The Hufflepuffs weren't that great (except Zacharias, he was fun), and I didn't have any motivation to really play her.

Character: Angelina Johnson
Played: December 22, 2008--February 23, 2008
Journal: angej

Ange was my most fun and active character. She refused to stick around London, so she ran away to Hawaii with Katie. That was fun.

Characters Without a Journal:

Avada Kedavra

A thread-based game, popular for a short while, and proceeded journal-based games.

Sometime 2002- September 23, 2003: Hannah Abbott (actually, I did find her journal. habbott_)

I had picked up Hannah, as I was depressed, had low self-esteem, and didn't have the courage or intelligence to get a character who would cause ANY sort of confrontation. Hannah was virtually unknown, and I had the freedom to create her personality. She was the definition of a sweet Hufflepuff. She smiled at everything, loved butterflies and floaty dresses. She had wavy blonde hair, big blue eyes, and was beyond sweet. She fell for the dark Slytherin, Vincent, whom she called Vinny. I stopped the ship when I found out that his future was of him being mentally unstable and beating the crap out of Hannah. NO ONE TOUCHED MY HANNAH.

Opinion
I don't even know where to begin describing how much this game meant to me. What I can say for sure is thank god they had patience with me. I was thirteen and this was the first serious game I had ever attempted. The game had a good run, though it ended on a pretty bad note. It's strange how I can still clearly remember the personalities of some of the key players.

*Brooke who had an obsession with Alan Rickman before the first HP movie had even come out.
*Mack (the mod), whose real name was Heather, but insisted she was going to get it legally changed.
*The ever-absent Savvy (the other mod), who had too much of an insane schedule for me to have ever have had a chat with her in the god knows how many months I was with the game.
*Matt, the bisexual cross-dresser from Hertfordshire who put his penis pictures online so we could all see. For someone who considered herself a liberal, I thought he was the COOLEST PERSON EVER. Our friendship ended when he ALWAYS complained about his lack of a sex life. He was 19 and a virgin, and thought it was the worst fate to have ever had.
*Raine. Oh my god, Raine. The gay pampered boy who always spoke of his mansion. He was the main cause of annoyance in the game. He whined ALL. THE. FUCKING. TIME. I think he eventually got kicked from the game when he kept fighting with this other gay boy. I think.
*Cathy, the Chinese girl. I know that's awful, but that's what I most remember her by. Her mother had been pregnant with twins in China, and had to get an abortion. They then moved to the US, and had Cathy.
*Nita...my Nita. We had plans to bubblewrap the world, and only the two of us ever thought it was hilarious. Of course I still talk with her. In fact, she sent me a text message about four hours ago. I thought that I was the baby of the group, until I found out she was a year younger than me. She was loud, had strange ideas, and I thought she was a complete freak...which is why she's one of my closest friends.

From that game, I had met Mack, Cathy, and Nita. Nita's the only one from the game I'm still in contact with. The game ended when Mack and Savvy had a falling out, and Mack became the only mod. She couldn't handle the responsibility, so she picked up Matt to help. He then took over the game when Mack quit, and he literally did nothing with it. I ended the game and quit role play altogether. I couldn't find a game, and MY game was gone. I did write about Hannah often. She lived on in the Sims, and I'll always have a soft spot for her.

Beyond the Veil

Mid June 2006: Susan Bones

This is the journal that started my love for Susan. Well, mostly. I had been out of the role playing circuit forever and a half (a few years, at least), and I was CRAVING the interactions I'd find. I had been on livejournal with my own personal journal since 2004, so I decided to check there first. I had no idea what I was searching for, so I started with "hp rping" in the interest category. Yes, I really had NO idea what I was doing. After hours of searching for games I found Beyond the Veil, and I honestly don't want to go searching for a link with it. The game was BAD. It was a sexed up community where Susan was being badmouthed by a Hannah who had a thing going on with a random character (Justin maybe?), and they were MEAN. They said that Susan was a weak character who sucked up to everyone...and this was BEFORE I had even made a post! It didn't stop after I made a post, either. They accused her of awful things, and god-modded her like whoa. I spoke with the mod about it, and she knew that the game was out of control, but she had no idea how to fix ANY of the situations. One of the reasons I had even joined (well, one of them), was for a GORGEOUS boy I had never seen before. William Moseley played by a miss Hayley. She left soon after I joined, saying that she had started her own game. Yep...Hogwarts_blogs.
